The Micronics series ultrasonic flow meters (depending on model) use Doppler or time difference type. Applications can be found in water and wastewater treatment, cooling in semiconductor processes, and HVAC cooling and heating systems. Ultrasonic flow meters are most suitable for measuring fluid flow in pressure pipelines, channels, and partially filled pipelines.
Measurement principle (time difference):
The ultrasonic signal is sent alternately in the direction of flow and the opposite direction of flow. Ultrasonic energy pulses are transmitted and received through a clear path through water flow. Accurately measure flow velocity by comparing the arrival time of signals from upstream and downstream sensors. The difference in transit time (Å t=t2/1-t1/2) determines the average flow velocity.
